Collection: Wampum

A wampum is made from the quahog clam shell.  It was made originally by the northeastern Native Americans. It had multiple uses such as jewelry, gifts and even currency. The patterns of wampums on jewelry and other accessories began to have symbolic meaning by the Native American tribes.   The most valuable color in a wampum is purple.  Wampums are known to be very hard and time consuming to make.
